My name is Mr. Slater and I am the owner and sole proprietor of Old World Window Cleaning.

Originally from Stockport in the North-West of England, I moved to Virginia in 2015 and currently reside in Fort Hunt with my wife and four children.

England is known as a nation of shop-keepers, and it is within this entrepreneurial tradition that I have always wanted to begin my own business here in America.

So, after leaving my role as a police officer in the region I decided to setup my own business, (finally) fulfilling this long-held aspiration to embark upon a new journey as a business owner.

The name Old World itself is a nod to my upbringing, but also a commitment to the standards I want to set for my business. In England we are full of honest, hard-working tradesmen who value “grafting” above all else.

This work ethic translates to quality work, done properly each and every time. I don’t believe in cutting corners, or half-arse’ing jobs in an effort to maximize returns. If it takes me longer, or takes up more materials to do a job properly, then that is the cost of doing things right.

I simply do not know any other way.

That is the tradition and standards of the working-class men I grew up with, and that ultimately is what the Old World means to me.
